This past Sunday, October 26, 45 runners competed in the 39th annual Marine Corps Marathon here in Washington D.C. on behalf of Grassroots. “Team Grassroot,” as our runners are called, had our largest group in the history of our running programs. We take the opportunity in this blog to highlight some of their achievements and thanking them once again for their fundraising efforts.
The Marine Corps Marathon attracts runners from all corners the globe. Team Grassroot was no exception as we we had runners from 15 states, including one from Seattle Washington and an international representative from Mexico (shoutout to Jose!) These runners raised $21,745 and we have almost reached our $25,0000 goal. If you can help us reach our goal, you can support one of our runners here: https://www.crowdrise.com/TeamGrassrootsFULL
Among our highlights is team runner Betsy Goodall reaching an important running milestone:
“It was a privilege to run with Grassroots. I ended up qualifying for Boston, which was my “pipe dream” goal!”
Congratulations, Betsy!
Other special highlights include best times, first marathon completions, and sharing the message of HIV prevention with the thousands of runners at Marine Corps Marathon.
The Team Grassroot marathon running program began in 2013. Previous races include the 2013 Marine Corps Marathon and the 2014 Marine Corps Half Marathon. Interested in being a part of our program?
