In the lead up to this year’s Marine Corps Marathon, we would like to showcase some of the extraordinary individuals who have decided to raise money for The Grassroots Project by running in the marathon this fall. In the first of our bi-weekly section we meet Kate Bush a Mountain Bike Police Officer from Washington D.C.
We asked Kate a series of questions and this is what she had to say:
Q. What motivated you to run for team Grassroot?
K. I have heard about The Grassroots Project before and always thought it was a really amazing program, however didn’t know how to get involved. I didn’t make it into the lottery for the marathon and I was really bummed, when a friend sent me the information for the chance to fundraise for TGP. I signed up and was able to raise well over the minimum amount.
Q. What do you love most about running?
K. It depends when you ask me! At the beginning of my training seasons it always takes me a little bit to fall back in love with running. When i finally do, i love how you can be isolated from the world/your cell phone/life when you just got out on a long run. Sometimes it takes me a little bit to get off the couch but I NEVER regret a run when I go.
Q. Who is your role model?
K. I have too many! For the sake of the MCM all of our military domestic and abroad. Thank you for your service.
