Nydia Arnold (she, her, hers) is a Health Education major at the illustrious Howard University, specializing in maternal and child health, and minoring in biology. In addition to being a member of the Howard University cheer team, Nydia Arnold is involved in numerous other organizations on campus, including Cheer Phi, Inc., Quad Stroll, and the Black Girls House. Nydia comes from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the city of brotherly love. Nydia has flourished since joining Grassroots Health in her junior year. Her motivation was to serve a community that resembled her upbringing and to satisfy her ambition of serving as a role model for the next generation. Nydia intends to pursue a master’s degree in public health after completing her undergraduate studies. She also hopes to keep inspiring the next generation in Philadelphia, PA, and Washington, DC. She is ecstatic about the chance and feels deeply grateful for it. She wants to use it to improve as a Grassroots coach and inspire other collegiate athletes to become part of the Grassroots community.
Kombucha, like a young college girl with big dreams, begins as a modest blend of tea and culture, quietly fermenting in the shadows of potential. A fizzy and bubbly personality with probiotic promise that brings excitement to any room she is in. Despite towering over her peers like a skyscraper (5’10”), her cheers soared higher than any basketball shot could reach. With courage in her heart and fire in her soul, she set out to defy the shadows of the past and illuminate a new dawn for her lineage. Time, patience, and nurturing care, it transforms into a vibrant elixir bursting with ambition and possibility. Just as the girl harnesses her passion and determination to evolve and achieve her goals, kombucha matures into a refreshing testament to resilience and growth, embodying the essence of dreams taking flight. Some may know her as Nydia the cheerleader but here in our hearts we know her as Bucha Babe.
