Niah Woods is a former Howard University women’s basketball and track and field athlete from Cincinnati, OH. She will be graduating in 2023 from Howard with her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. She is also a chemistry and sociology double minor with a career focus on becoming a child psychiatrist. Niah currently works as a Clinical Research Study Coordinator at the Howard University Clinical Research Unit. In 2019 she was introduced to Grassroots Health and has been a consistent volunteer ever since, mastering the three programs curricula, becoming a Head Coach and a Training Fellow. Grassroots has only strengthened her passion to work in the field of psychology and with children as they grow and develop. She was a part of the cohort that traveled to Philadelphia to recruit and train athletes as a part of the Grassroots expansion. Grassroots Health has a special spot in Niah’s heart and she hopes to continue her time here as long as she can.

Niah (NE-UH) joined Grassroots Health based on a short conversation at a famous cafe by Howard University, Sankofa, and she has not looked back since. She is filled with memories and stories from training and programs, ask her and she’ll be eager to share. She is known as Queen City, Queen, QC and the girl who shows up to any and all programs at least once. Notorious for arguing that Cincinnati is also known as the Queen City and Charlotte, North Carolina is a close second, she’ll defend her name no matter what. She’s always gonna bring the energy, the dancing and the excitement to any room she walks in. Niah owes her time management skills, her drive and her passions to the world of sports and believes that she wouldn’t be the woman she is today without having been a dual-sport Division 1 collegiate athlete. She has a goal of becoming fluent in both American Sign Language and Spanish to aid in her future career. Also don’t ever hand her the aux unless you only want to listen to J. Cole!
