Maddie Steskal

Digital Communication Fellow

Madison Steskal (she/her) is a Digital Communication Fellow at Grassroots Health. Since joining in the Fall of 2022, she works on Graphic Design content behind the scenes. She is a student at The George Washington University, Majoring in Communication and Minoring in both Graphic Design and Marketing (Class of 2025). She is passionate about using her work to expand the impact of non-profits like Grassroots Health on their communities. She is a strong believer in the importance of health equity and loves helping Grassroots Health tackle its mission. Prior to joining the Grassroots Health team, Maddie was a competitive gymnast for the majority of her life. She credits much of her life lessons to the sport of gymnastics. In this new chapter of her life, she’s excited to keep growing, and taking on new challenges and opportunities along the way.

Maddie’s Grassroots nickname, “Salsa,” came from Mango, simply because she walked into training with a t-shirt that said “Salsa.” Maddie has a fun spicy side, which makes this Grassroots nickname a perfect fit. She loves to be a goof and laugh with those around her. She is an incredibly uncoordinated dancer (like Elaine from Seinfeld) but will still throw it down on the dance floor any day. Salsa loves a good challenge, and accomplishing tough things gives her a rush of energy. Since being done with gymnastics, Maddie has found a new love for CrossFit. She likes starting off the day with a challenging workout and feels strong knowing she accomplished something hard at the beginning of the day. The workouts usually leave her feeling dead, but she somehow still finds them fun. To recharge, Salsa loves hanging out with her friends, going on sporadic adventures, and having her chill time.
