Kevon Elzey
Howard, Track and Field

Kevon Elzey (he/him/his) is a class of 2023 graduating senior at Howard University studying
Political Science with a minor in Japanese. While the Chicagoland area is considered home for
him, Kevon has grown up in many places prior, including Hawaii, Japan, and California.
He began volunteering with Grassroots Health as a freshman in 2019, and he has continued to stay involved throughout his time as an undergrad. This commitment eventually led to Kevon
becoming a Grassroots Head Coach and then a Grassroots Health Training Fellow. In these roles, he is not only responsible for leading curriculum in schools but also training new and incoming Grassroots athletes. Along with his current roles, Kevon has also been aiding in the recruiting and training of new athletes in the city of Philadelphia, as Grassroots Health looks to expand. Outside of Grassroots Health and his college studies, Kevon is an Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadet and works part-time as a lifeguard/ swim instructor.
Upon graduating, Kevon will commission into the United States Air Force as a Second
Lieutenant. Before beginning his time in service, he hopes to be accepted to a law school in the
city of Philadelphia so that he can continue his education along with his work with Grassroots
Health.

Sensation is exactly who you think he is… sensational! With his simple introduction of “What’s
good y’all”, you already know it’s going to be an exciting time at Grassroots. Sensation can be
seen as a cool kind of guy who enjoys R&B music and food; emphasis on food because he
loves to eat tasty meals and snacks! This is only fitting considering he’s almost like a “Guru” in
the Grassroots Nutritional curriculum. Each time Sensation is at a program, you can tell
Grassroots is the place where he wants to be. This guy likes Grassroots so much, he’s trying to
go to law school in Philadelphia just so he can continue working with us. I don’t know about y’all
but already 4 years of commitment on top of a potential 3 years sounds pretty sensational. So if
you ever get the chance to meet Sensation with other people around you, best believe he’s
going to say hello by saying “What’s good y’all!”
