Jane Wallis, M.P.H.
Director of Programs

Jane (She/Her/Hers) has been in the role of Director of Programs for the last 5 years. In this position, she leads curriculum development, program implementation, evaluation, and maintaining community connections and relationships. She is passionate about the organization’s continued commitment and involvement in the DC community but also advocating for innovative, youth-centered health education on a national stage. Jane believes education is the backbone to advancing health equity. She is also the community-vice-chair of the DC Mayor’s Regional Commission on Health and HIV, and has been a mayoral appointed commissioner since 2018.

Prior to rejoining the Grassroots team in 2017, Jane served as a Community Health Extension Agent with the US Peace Corps in Zambia, implementing community health education initaitves around sexual health, maternal and child health, nutrition, malaria, and youth development. Jane holds a Masters of Public Health and a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health, both from The George Washington University.

J-DUB from G-DUB first joined Grassroots as an athlete on the GW Women’s Soccer team. She won’t let you forget it because one of her greatest passions is soccer (football) – playing, analyzing, and coaching. Her nickname was a play on both her initials and her affinity for competition – she is ALWAYS trying to get that “dub.” While soccer and public health are her two main passions, she usually has a hard copy of the WaPo by her side and is your stereotypical “life long learner” filling her head with local anecdotes and geeking out about the latest local political race.
