Jane (She/Her/Hers) became Executive Director in April 2024. In her time at GRH she has lead curriculum development, program implementation, evaluation, and maintaining community connections and relationships. She is passionate about the organization’s continued community commitment and involvement and advocates for innovative, youth-centered health education nationally. Jane believes education is the backbone to advancing health equity.
Prior to joining the staff at Grassroots Health in 2017, Jane served as a four-year Grassroots Health volunteer and then for 27 months as a Community Health Extension Agent with the US Peace Corps in Zambia. With the Peace Corps, she implemented community health education initiatives around sexual health, maternal and child health, nutrition, malaria, and youth development.
Jane holds a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from The George Washington University. She is also the Community-Co-Chair of the DC Mayor’s Regional Commission on Health and HIV and has been a mayoral-appointed commissioner since 2018.
J-DUB from G-DUB first joined Grassroots as an athlete on the GW Women’s Soccer team. She won’t let you forget it because one of her greatest passions is soccer (football) – playing, analyzing, and coaching. Her nickname was a play on both her initials and her affinity for competition – she is ALWAYS trying to get that “dub.” While soccer and public health are her two main passions, she usually has a hard copy of the WaPo by her side and is your stereotypical “life long learner” filling her head with local anecdotes and geeking out about the latest local political race.
