Helina is a summer intern at Grassroots Health and a rising senior in high school. She looks forward to contributing new ideas and bringing positive energy every day. Her interests include American history and keeping up with the news and politics of the world. Through her leadership roles in various clubs and student government, Helina has become familiar with managing and participating in group efforts (skills she looks forward to putting to use during her time with Grassroots Health). Even though she wasn’t born in DC, she considers herself a DC native, having lived here for most of her life. She’s passionate about improving the health, both mental and physical, of her DC community and hopes to make a lasting impact through education.
Helina’s GRH nickname, “Helicopter,” suddenly came to her one day, and from then on nothing was ever the same. The clever play on her name represents Helina’s fast-paced but steady personality. Whenever someone needs a hand, she’s always there to help! When she’s not on the go, she loves watching movies, hanging out with friends, listening to Ariana Grande, and playing with her cat, Kopi. In her free time, you will probably find Helicopter at the Tyson’s Corner Hollister or at a Cinnabon eating a huge cinnamon roll.
