Frankie is a swimmer at Howard University who grew up in Montreal, Canada. Expected to graduate in 2028, she is an Honors Environmental Science major with research interests at the intersection of environmental justice and artificial intelligence. During her freshman year, she was inspired by her teammate, El Tigre, to join GRH. She knew that her background as a swimming instructor had her well prepared for the role and wanted to explore her newfound interest in public health. As a future environmental lawyer, Frankie looks forward to reinvesting her skills developed at Grassroots in advocating for individuals’ right to clean air, clean water and healthy living conditions.
In her very first program, Frankie adopted her nickname “Frankenstein” so that her students could no longer use it to make fun of one of their peers. On her nametag she always draws a monster with a big smile to show that positivity can be made from anything. She loves swimming because it has taught her resilience and provided her with lifelong friendships. When she has time out of the pool, Frankie is quick to catch a flight to discover a new city or country. In D.C., she enjoys going to the Smithsonian museums or the zoo, where she gets to visit her favorite animal, the Giant Panda.
