Cara Geschu
Evaluation Manager

Cara (she/her/hers) is the Evaluation Manager at GRH, leading the organization’s data collection, analysis, and dissemination. She has dedicated her career to helping provide effective public health prevention and promotion programming among marginalized populations. Cara believes strongly that good public health can only be achieved through a combination of community partnership, evidence based decision-making, and participant empowerment. To Cara, evaluation of organizational programs and systems is an invaluable tool that provides a roadmap on how to create the most impactful and meaningful change for the community we seek to serve.

Before joining Grassroots Health, Cara received her Masters in Public Health from George Washington University and worked at several different nonprofits dedicated to educating various populations on mental, physical, and sexual health. With varied roles between organizations Cara has been a part of the entire life-cycle of a public health intervention. From program planning and budgeting during a grant application, to reporting program outcomes to various relevant stakeholders she has experience and a thorough understanding of what it takes to accomplish every step in the process. Through Cara’s time at these different organizations she developed a special passion for the evaluation process and the often overlooked but invaluable support that evaluation can provide.

Growing up, whenever someone would ask Cara what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would always respond with one word… “Godzilla”. Finally after finding her way to Grassroots Health she was able to make that dream a reality by nicknaming herself after the very same King of Monsters she has long had an affinity for. Godzilla grew up playing baseball and now plays in an adult recreational softball league and is an avid hiker/birder, often going on weekend camping trips in her camper van to see as many new places as possible. As for musical taste, Godzilla listens to an eclectic set of genres from punk rock, to 80’s Japanese Jazz, to modern pop icons like Hozier and Chapell Roan.
