Katie Steinour, M.B.A.
Development and Communications Manager

Katie Steinour (she/her/hers) serves the Grassroots Health team as the Manager of Development and Communications; supporting strategies that increase Grassroot Health’s visibility to the community. She plays a key role in crafting Grassroots’ development strategy, with a focus on building meaningful relationships with our institutional and individual supporters.

Inspired by her time teaching History, English, and Spanish with Teach For America and directing the Griot Arts Youth Program in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Katie’s work is deeply rooted in her commitment to illuminate the brilliance of young people. She is an avid storyteller who loves to talk about organizations like Grassroots Health working to support DC schools as they build more equitable and health-focused spaces for students to thrive.

The nickname “Beanie” was the brainchild of Katie’s highly-esteemed colleague, Mango! Mango noticed that Katie often wears hats of all kinds in all kinds of weather. On her time off you can find Beanie hightailing it to the countryside to ride horses, wrangle cattle, and drive alfalfa swaffers! When she’s in the city, Beanie plays pick-up soccer/volleyball, jams on the piano, and spends WAY too much time “Marie Kondo-ing” her apartment. She’s still finding new things to love about city life: exploring new parks with her dog Jules, eating at unique restaurants, and soaking in all the live concerts she can!
